The Holiday Program

The People Helping People Holiday Program was established to help Burlington, MA families in need during the holiday season. There are two parts. One is giving out complete Thanksgiving meals. The second is the Wish Tree Program which provides clothing and gift wishes for children of pantry clients.

Thanksgiving

During the month of October, families may sign up at the People Helping People Food Pantry. Meals are distributed at the United Church of Christ Congregational on Lexington Street the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

Last year 145 Thanksgiving dinners were distributed to families, veterans and elders.

Wish Tree Program

During the month of October, qualifying Burlington families may sign up for the Wish Tree Program.  The program provides gifts for their children through their senior year of high school.

Each child receives 4 basic need gifts which include new underwear, sweatshirt, pajamas, and shoes in addition to 3 individual wishes, hat and gloves, books, a throw blanket and generic toys. Last year we provided gifts for 190 children from 81 families.

Additionally, we provided gift cards for 70 Seniors that frequented the People Helping People Food Pantry as well as 35 Burlington High students recommended by guidance.
