People Helping People Holding Annual Wine Tasting

Burlington’s flagship charity organization is once again inviting members of the public to enjoy an evening of wine and entertainment to help it fund its work, including the Burlington Food Pantry.

“People Helping People is very pleased to announce that Bob Murray, owner of the Café Escadrille, will be hosting the 7th Annual Wine Tasting and Charity Auction with all proceeds going to support People Helping People,” an invite reads.

The Wine Tasting & Charity Auction will be held at the Café Escadrille on Sunday, February 25th from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be wine tasting, gourmet appetizers, live auctions and silent auctions. Tickets are $50 each.

“In an effort to make the event more comfortable to those attending this year we will only be selling 150 tickets!” People Helping People said.

As in previous years, guests entering the Escadrille will be greeted with a “Glass of Champagne or Wine” and then be invited into the ballroom for appetizers.

People Helping People said it is also pleased to announce that Frank Vozzella, Branch Manager & AVP of Northern Bank, has once again reached out to People Helping People and for the Fifth year will be the Major Sponsor for the Event. Also the Weiner Family, owners of a Burlington Dunkin Donuts, have once again made a special purchase for everyone attending the event this year.

The Charity Auction will be performed by Auctioneer Steve DiOrio who promises to be entertaining and with lots of prizes to bid on.

“The auction items this year promise to be unique with dinners from many of the local restaurants in Burlington, two round trip tickets on Southwest Airline and a robot from iRobot,” the invite states. “You will also have the ability to bid on the ‘Ultimate Fenway Experience’ that is being donated by Peter Damato and family. The experience includes 4 tickets to a TBD game with drinks before the game with a Red Sox Legend and a VIP tour of Fenway Park. Rumor has it there might be another appearance by a ‘Red Sox Legend’ at the Wine Tasting. These are just a few of the amazing raffles and silent auction items that will be presented on the 25th!”

People Helping People is the umbrella organization for the Burlington Food Pantry, the Holiday Program & Wish Tree and the Covenant for Basic Needs. These three non-profit and volunteer-supported organizations are striving to meet the basic necessities of Burlington residents who have been hit hardest by the economic downturn.

In 2017 the Food Pantry distributed over 176,000 pounds of food to families in Burlington. This was in increase over previous years. This past December the Wish Tree processed over 2000 gifts for children. PHP also gave the seniors at the food pantry a small gift for the holiday season. In November over 180 families in town were provided the fixings for Thanksgiving dinners.

“People Helping People is extremely grateful to Bob Murray for his continued generosity to People Helping People,” the invite states. “Bob continues to make a very strong impact on People Helping People’s ability to help those in need these past 7 years. Bob is always reaching out to our organization to assist! This event is totally donated by Bob Murray.”
