Volunteer Shift Descriptions:
Daytime Pantry: Daytime shifts at the pantry could include any of the following tasks: unpacking and shelving Greater Boston Food Bank orders, sorting and putting away fresh and frozen foods, bagging groceries, fulfilling client orders during distribution, cleaning, and more.
Evening Pantry: Our Tuesday evening distribution shift involves packing client orders and delivering to their cars.
Delivery Driver: We need delivery drivers to make home deliveries to some of our clients on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Saturday Sort: Saturdays from 9am-11am (two teams work alternating weeks), volunteers date-check and sort donated food, and stock the pantry shelves. This is a good job for teens (Middle School and High School) as well as working adults.
Special Events/Fundraisers: We organize several fundraisers and events throughout the year. We need fun-loving, energetic individuals who like to interact with people to help us with these events!
Pumpkin Patch: During the month of October, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church hosts the Pumpkin Patch, raising funds for PHP. We need volunteers to interact with guests and sell pumpkins. This is a great opportunity for small groups or families to do together.
Thanksgiving Program: We need volunteers to help with various aspects of our Thanksgiving distribution on the Saturday and Sunday before Thanksgiving.
Wish Tree: Volunteers are needed to sit at the Wish Tree at the Burlington Mall during November and December to hand out wish requests and collect donations.
Group Projects: We have a limited number of large group activities available, depending on the time of year. Our Volunteer Coordinator will work with groups to see how we can best work together.
